For the third time, [autotag]Carlos Condit[/autotag] and [autotag]Matt Brown[/autotag] have a dance date.
Former interim welterweight champion Condit (31-13 MMA, 8-9 UFC) is set to meet Brown (22-17 MMA, 15-11 UFC) at the UFC’s Jan. 30 event. The card doesn’t have a location or broadcast details yet.
MMA Junkie confirmed the matchup with a person with knowledge of the booking. The person requested anonymity since the UFC has yet to make a formal announcement. The news first was reported by MMAFighting.com.
Condit and Brown first were booked for UFC on FOX 9 in December 2013, but Brown was forced out with an injury. In April 2018, they tried again at UFC on FOX 29, but again Brown was pulled with a torn ACL.
In October, Condit snapped a five-fight skid when he took a unanimous decision from Court McGee. Prior to that, he had gone more than five years without a win with losses to Robbie Lawler in a title fight, Demian Maia, Neil Magny, Alex Oliveira and Michael Chiesa.
Brown will be looking to get back on track after a May knockout loss to Miguel Baeza. Prior to that, he had two straight knockout wins over Diego Sanchez and Ben Saunders.
Combined, Condit and Brown add up to a pair of prolific finishers. Condit has 28 of his 31 career wins by stoppage – a clip of better than 90 percent. And Brown has 22 of his 24 wins by stoppage for 92 percent.
With the addition, the UFC’s Jan. 30 card now includes:
- Viviane Araujo vs. Roxanne Modafferi
- Vinicius Moreira vs. Ike Villanueva
- Ode Osbourne vs. Jerome Rivera
- Zarrukh Adashev vs. Jeffrey Molina
- Matt Brown vs. Carlos Condit
