For the second time this season, the New York Giants came away with a victory. For the second time, it was against the Washington Football Team.
The Giants had to hang on again like the last time as Washington made a late surge, but New York came away with their second victory of the season and their first on the road in 2020.
The defense stepped up big on Sunday, causing four turnovers against Washington (a fifth on special teams). Three of them were interceptions against Alex Smith, who replaced Kyle Allen after he left in the first quarter with a gruesome ankle injury.
One of Smith’s interceptions was by middle linebacker Blake Martinez, who continues to shine bright on defense for the Giants.

Martinez finished the game with 10 total tackles (three solo), two passes defensed and the interception.
On the year, Martinez has 92 total tackles with two sacks and now his first interception of the season. With eight more tackles, Martinez would have his fourth straight 100-plus tackle season in the NFL.
