On paper, Saturday afternoon’s Oklahoma-Kansas tilt was an obvious mismatch and a game that had all the makings of a blowout. On the field, it was, well, exactly that.
The Sooners demolished the Jayhawks by a final score of 62-9, controlling the game in essentially every possible way. Oklahoma’s offense mostly got what it wanted all afternoon long while the defense got after Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels.
After Tre Brown got an interception on the first possession of the game, Spencer Rattler found Austin Stogner for a wide open touchdown to get the Sooners up 7-0 just a few minutes into the game.
Oklahoma never looked back from there, taking a 31-3 lead into halftime and pushing it out even further in the second half.
This was an expected dominant performance for the Sooners, here are three reasons why it happened:
