Pelicans make Jrue Holiday available for trades, should Sixers inquire?

With Jrue Holiday made available for trade, should the Philadelphia 76ers make an offer?

The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to make a couple of big moves to their roster now that they have brought in Daryl Morey to be their new President of Basketball Operations.

He is expected to come in here and fix a roster that has a lot of warts on it in order to better compete for a title and considering his history with the Houston Rockets, it can be safe to assume that he will pull off a big trade at some point.

Just a few days into his time as the new team president, there appears to be a name on the trade market right now that could be a nice fit. That would be New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday who the team has made available for trade and there have been a few contending teams who have made a call.

In terms of how Holiday would fit in Philadelphia, it would not be perfect. He is not a knockdown shooter from deep as he is a career 35.4% shooter from beyond the arc, but he would bring elite defense and he is a creator for himself and others. He averaged 19.1 points, 6.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 2019-20 for the Pelicans and he is versatile enough to play both point guard and shooting guard.

The question now is, what can the Sixers offer New Orleans? Josh Richardson would not be the best fit on their team and the team would likely want to see what Tobias Harris can do under Doc Rivers. Al Horford makes sense for them as he can get back to playing the center position and he can stabilize their defense.

To move Horford, the Sixers would have to move something valuable to get rid of the contract, but Morey is a guy who is not afraid to move those assets in order to pull the trigger on a deal. Either way, this is a deal that he should at least kick the tires on and see what he can do to improve the roster. [lawrence-related id=38834,38831,38828]
