Landon Collins reports that surgery on Achilles tendon went well

Landon Collins posted that surgery to repair his injured Achilles tendon went well on Monday, and he is soon to start the recovery process.

A little bit more than a week after Washington’s safety Landon Collins went down for the year an apparent Achilles tendon injury, the veteran is reporting via his social media that he underwent surgery on the ligament and it went well.

The recovery will potentially be a long one for Collins, and it will absolutely have him sidelined for the rest of this year. The average recovery time for an Achilles tear is around 6-8 months, but it will take some additional time for Collins to build his strength back up to be able to play football again. There are hopes that he will be ready for the 2021 season, but there is still a lot to be known before that return date can be set.

In his absence, Washington will look to rookie Kamren Curl and third-year safety Jeremy Reaves to fill in at the strong safety spot. The team offered a practice squad spot to free agent Eric Reid, though he turned it down.
