LB Darron Lee expected to join Bills

Darron Lee to join Buffalo BIlls.

The Buffalo Bills are expected to add linebacker Darron Lee. He had a visit with the Bills on Thursday.

But it’s unknown exactly in which manner that Lee will be with the team. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both options are still on the table. Lee could be joining the Bills’ active roster, or he could join their practice squad:

Regardless, the team will announce which way his transaction goes in the near future if he does, in fact, join the Bills. Lee, 25, still has plenty of youth on his side. The Jets made him the No. 20 overall pick at the 2016 draft. In May 2019, the Jets traded Lee to the Chiefs for a sixth-round pick.

In Buffalo, Lee would certainly be a project piece for the Bills. Lee had the oft-coveted fifth-year option on his rookie contract decline by Gang Green and was shipped out. Lee was pretty much the defensive LeSean McCoy for the Super Bowl champs in 2019. The Chiefs gave Shady and Lee chances, and eventually they had their roles reduced and they were inactive when the team won their title last year.

Lee is known as a promising coverage linebacker and has played special teams in his career. Those are two ways he could benefit the Bills. Buffalo has had to rely on depth linebacker AJ Klein and starter Tremaine Edmunds in coverage this season and both have had struggles in doing so.
