New York Giants QB Daniel Jones has done something that no one in the 101-year history of the NFL has done before.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones doesn’t own many records in just his second NFL season, but he does own a few and it just so happens that one of them is pretty wild.

Although it’s obviously subject to change over time, Jones stands alone in a category that precious few would ever be able to guess.

In the 101-year history of the NFL, more than 1,800 players have amassed 75 or rushing attempts but only one has a per-carry average of 7.6 yards or better: Mr. Danny Dimes himself.

In 20 career games, Jones has run the ball 76 times for 575 yards and two touchdowns. And those 575 yards are the fifth-most by a quarterback since the start of the 2019 season, trailing Russell Wilson, Josh Allen, Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson.

Although Jones’ 7.6 yards per carry is a statistical anomaly, it’s not actually an official record. In order to quality for NFL’s Official Record & Fact Book, Jones would have to have a minimum of 750 carries, so he’s quite a long way from that.

Still, the Elias Sports Bureau has Jones listed as the current all-time leader in yards per carry (7.56 to be exact) with a minimum of 75 carries. So at least for now, he owns a strange official but unofficial record.
