The 1-5 Vikings just traded their best defensive lineman, all but admitting they’ve given up on the 2020 season.
The “Tank for Trevor” chants are getting very real for the Vikings, who would pick sixth right now if the season ended today.
How many wins will the Vikings end with in 2020, a season after finishing 10-6?
Let’s do our best to guess. We’ll try to be a little optimistic.
Week 8: @ Packers: L, 35-13
Week 9: vs. Lions: W, 27-24
Week 10: @ Bears: L, 23-10
Week 11: vs. Cowboys: W, 27-24
Week 12: vs. Panthers: L, 30-20
Week 13: vs. Jaguars: W, 38-17
Week 14: @ Bucs: L, 31-10
Week 15: vs. Bears: L, 23-16
Week 16: @ Saints: L, 31-18
Week 17: @ Lions: L, 24-21
I think this is fair. Splitting with the Lions, taking one from Andy Dalton’s Cowboys and taking down the Mustache Man at home.
That leaves the Vikings with four wins, which won’t have them at the top of the draft, but probably lands them in the top-5, well-positioned to draft someone not named Kirk Cousins to play quarterback.
If the Vikings do finish with just four wins, it almost certainly means the end of the road for Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer in Minnesota.
