Trying to follow the saga of Florida football over the last week can be a bit of a mess. But the folks over at The Independent Florida Alligator threw together a helpful graphic that organizes the Gators’ COVID-19 timeline during the month of October.
On Oct. 5, the university announced 32 total cases on the football team since May 26. But after UF’s game against Texas A&M on Oct. 10, the team canceled their meeting on Monday morning.
On Tuesday, the UAA announced five new positive tests as of Monday. But later that day, the program announced it would be pausing all football activities, and The Alligator reported that 19 players had tested positive.
The next day, Athletic Director Scott Stricklin announced the postponement of Florida’s game against LSU and confirmed the accuracy of The Alligator’s report, adding that the number of positive cases was then at 21.
On Friday, the Gators’ game against Missouri was moved from Oct. 24 to Oct. 31, and the same day, Texas A&M was fined by the SEC for not following COVID-19 guidelines.
On Saturday, coach Dan Mullen announced that he had tested positive for the virus.
The team released updated testing information yesterday, which indicates that 25 athletes had tested positive since the five additional cases reported last Tuesday.
