With the season now less than a week away, the story coming out of Madison has been surrounding changes under center. The Badgers were hit with a major preseason blow at the beginning of the month when rising senior QB Jack Coan broke his foot in a non-contact injury suffered in practice.
Taking over the reigns of the Wisconsin offense is redshirt-freshman Graham Mertz, the highest-ranked QB recruit in modern Badger football history.
The former four-star 2019 signee throws a picture perfect ball, and his arm talent was on display this week in practice when he shared the wealth around to senior WR Danny Davis, TE Jake Ferguson, and others.

Graham Mertz continues to look comfortable with rolling with the 1s on offense, connecting with Danny Davis for a touchdown and Jake Ferguson as well. #Badgers

Badger fans will get their first chance to see Mertz in a starting role this Friday against Illinois when Wisconsin opens their season at Camp Randall.
