Vikings defensive backs will have hands full vs. Falcons

Both Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley will be healthy for the Falcons.

The Vikings are hoping they don’t give the Falcons their first win of the 2020 season.

One challenge for the Vikings will be to slow down Atlanta’s wide receiver group that features a healthy Julio Jones. Jones missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury but wasn’t on the team’s injury report heading into this week despite not practicing all week.

Minnesota’s pass defense ranks 27th in the league. That’s somewhat expected with all the new faces in the defensive backfield, but it’s not an ideal matchup to go up against Jones, Calvin Ridley and Matt Ryan.

Jones opened the season up with a 157-yard performance in Week 1. Ridley already has four 100-yard games this season.

This is a dangerous matchup for the Vikings. I would expect the Falcons will target Minnesota’s young defensive backs throughout the day. That would be the smart thing to do.

Will they be able to slow down two Pro Bowl-caliber receivers? That will be the key to victory for the Vikings in Week 6.
