The Philadelphia 76ers were in a transition period in the offseason of 2007. They had traded away franchise icon Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets and had also cut Chris Webber loose after his struggles with the team. The team finished up with a 35-47 record and the 12th pick in the draft.

Considering they still had Andre Iguodala and Andre Miller leading the way, the team decided to roll with a versatile forward who could do it all in Thaddeus Young out of Georgia Tech. He had a solid career with the Yellow Jackets and the Sixers took a flier on the young man.

He had a very good career with Philadelphia as he averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds doing all the dirty work for the team and he was a major part of four playoff teams. He was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves after one season of The Process as he was the veteran mentor for the younger guys.

Young has since played for the Brooklyn Nets, the Indiana Pacers, and is now with the Chicago Bulls. He has had similar numbers with those teams being a solid veteran player who teams can rely on. He turned out to be a solid pick. [lawrence-related id=38023,38016,38008]
