Just another day at the office for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, right?
Allen surpassed 300 yards in the air for the third-straight game, going 24-for-33 passing with 311 yards in the air.
Oh yeah, Allen also had five total touchdowns, including four in the air.
Whoops, one more note: Allen had a ridiculous comeback effort after his own team blew a big lead in a Falcons-like way. After the Bills looked dead, Allen brought them back from the grave for the win, 35-32, in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams.
How did the Bills QB end up pulling that rabbit out of the hat? It took a few simple words strung together, seven in total, for Allen to describe what went down.
“I just want it… more than anything,” Allen said via video conference following the game.
Allen certainly showed that, and it’s something he’s put on display throughout his young NFL career. Just last season, Allen had five game-winning drives, tying the Texans’ Deshaun Watson and Seahawks’ Russell Wilson in that category. He’s back up to two already through three games in 2020. That extra gear is something the Bills have longed for at the quarterback position.
Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott, never one for the dramatics, even had to take notice of what his quarterback has accomplished very recently.
“To come back and win the game in the NFL is tough to do and he’s done it twice in the last two weeks,” said McDermott. “We got the DNA that guys believe in themselves that they’re going to make plays.”
At the end of the day, Allen, McDermott and Western New York are happy with that win. It’s another one on the good side of their win-loss column, but that doesn’t mean Allen wants to do that again.
Fourth-quarter comebacks happen, but having to do them after having a huge lead? Allen sounds fine if that scenario never unfolds again for his team.
“Going up 28-3, as a team, we have to be better. We need to make sure we keep our foot on the pedal and we’ve got to put that game away,” Allen said. “I’m very happy with how resilient this team was, but I’m also little mad at myself for allowing this kind of dip there.”
