The Houston Texans announced Tuesday they have placed tight end Kahale Warring on injured reserve.
As a corresponding move, the Texans promoted tight end Pharaoh Brown to the active roster.
Unlike in previous years where a player would be on injured reserve for eight weeks, and the team was limited to two players they could bring back from the list, the Texans can bring back Warring after three weeks.
The former 2019 third-round pick from San Diego State played nine special teams snaps for the Texans in the 34-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1. Warring was not on the injury report heading into the Thursday night opener.
The Texans signed back guard Cordel Iwuagwu to the practice squad. Iwuagwu would have the chance to be promoted to the active roster on game day against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 20 at NRG Stadium.
