CBS Sport’s latest power rankings were released, and while the Alabama Crimson Tide have yet to play a game, they are ranked within the top five.
Dennis Dodd od CBS Sports did the write up for the rankings and includes Alabama behind a regular foe of theirs that typically makes the College Football Playoff. Oklahoma.
Clemson holds the No. 1 spot on the list. After starting their season 0-1 with a win over Wake Forest, the Tigers appear to be primed to take the ACC title, yet again.
However, Oklahoma being ranked above Alabama is certainly interesting.
Sure, the Crimson Tide have yet to play a game, but these are power rankings centered around the strength of a team. These rankings suggest the Sooners are superior to Nick Saban’s 2020 squad.
Oklahoma started their season with a win over Missouri State, a game most predicted would come easy to the BIG 12 team.
“Missouri State took the game for money,” writes Dodd. “Oklahoma took the game seriously. Spencer Rattler kicked off his first start with more touchdown passes (four) than incompletions (three). The shutout for OU was its first in five years.”
Dodd’s take on Alabama was rather short, and did not offer insight as to why the team would be considered weaker than Oklahoma.
“Two weeks to go until the opener at Missouri,”writes Dodd. “Shouts of “run the damn ball” already being heard in T-Town.”
Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on all things Alabama football as the season is set to kick off on Sept. 26 against Missouri.
