The Baltimore Ravens wanted to get off to a fast start in the opening game against the Cleveland Browns. They couldn’t have asked for a better beginning.
After kicking off to begin the game, Baltimore gave up a few chunk plays to the Cleveland offense before putting up a nice defensive stand. The defense stuffed a run play on first down, batted a pass on second down, then on third down forced their first turnover of the season to get a short field for the offense.
Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey made an impressive diving catch, but the MVP of this play was a defensive lineman. New addition Calais Campbell dropped back into coverage and tipped the pass, making it easy pickings for Humphrey. Campbell is a 6-foot-8 mammoth of a man, but showed his versatile skill set by dropping into coverage and looked smooth doing so.
Baltimore will look to keep the pressure on Cleveland on defense and hope that their new pieces continue to make big impacts.
