A pre-game topic of discussion for the Buffalo Bills’ meeting with the New York Jets was how the team would react during the playing of the national anthem. An offseason debate saw discussions of players potentially taking a knee during it, among other signs of peaceful protests.

Instead, the Bills decided to not take part in any of that. In a joint effort with the Jets, both teams stayed inside their locker rooms at Bills Stadium during the singing of the national anthem. Both teams then entered the field after:

During the week, Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins indicated that multiple players on the team were planning to take some sort of action during the anthem. Across the sporting world, players are showing their backing in regard to social injustices against Black Americans.
