The Vols are a perfect 5-0 in games that they have played on Sept. 9.
The Vols first played a game on Sept. 9 during the 1972 season. That contest pitted the Big Orange against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta, and it was a Southeastern Conference contest.
The Big Orange prevailed that day, 34-3.
The Vols also played on Sept. 9, 1989, beating UCLA, 24-6, when the Bruins were ranked No. 6 in the country.
In 1995, Tennessee played its first-ever Sept. 9 home game at Neyland Stadium, edging SEC foe Georgia, 30-27.
On Sept. 9, 2006 the Vols outlasted Air Force, 31-20.
UT last played on Sept. 9 in 2017 when they routed Indiana State, 42-7.
