Turns out Bills defensive tackle Harrison Phillips went under the knife a bit more than we realized.

Phillips had a great start to the 2019 season. The problem was that his campaign lasted two games for him before he suffered an ACL injury. We knew he had surgery to repair that once he was placed on the Bills’ injured reserve list last September.

But Phillips revealed via video conference late last week that he actually had two surgeries done, one on each knee.

“A lot of guys have to go through (surgery), but my situation was just a little more unique because I had to have surgery on both of my knees. So for however many sets and reps, you have to do for normal knee, I was having to do double to make sure I did both the knees so that process was long, and I appreciate it so much,” Phillips said.

The defensive tackle clarified that he had surgery on his patella tendon in the second knee. The known surgery was on his ACL in the other, as mentioned.

Despite the added workload this offseason for him to recover, Phillips said he’s feeling ready to go when the regular season comes around against the Jets in a mere week.

“I feel great…”

“I can play 250 snaps against the Jets,” Phillips said. “Whatever coach McDermott tells me to do, I’m doing it.”
