Warriors’ Eric Paschall lands at No. 6 in NBA 2020 Rookie of the Year voting

After an impressive first season in Golden State, Eric Paschall landed just outside the top-five in the NBA’s Rookie of the Year voting.

During a down season for the Golden State Warriors, Eric Paschall’s performance during his rookie campaign served as a bright spot.

In 60 games, the Villanova product averaged 14.0 points on 49.7% shooting from the field with 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. Paschall ranked in the top 10 in both points and rebounds per game for 2019-20 rookies.

Paschall played an instrumental role in Golden State’s first victory in San Francisco’s new Chase Center. Paschall dropped a season-high 34 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field in the Warriors’ 127-118 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The young forward added 13 boards in his breakout performance against the Blazers.

The 23-year-old’s impressive first season in the Bay Area earned him a pair of third-place votes in the NBA’s race for Rookie of the Year. The Golden State rookie landed at No. 6 in the 2020 Rookie of the Year voting.

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant ran away with the award, earning 99 first-place votes. New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson was the only other rookie to get a vote for the top spot.

Along with Morant and Williamson, Paschall was slotted behind Miami’s Kendrick Nunn, Memphis’ Brandon Clarke and Chicago’s Coby White. Toronto’s Terence Davis III and New York’s RJ Barrett rounded out the voting results.

Paschall was the only player drafted out of the second round to earn a bid in the Rookie of the Year voting.

With the duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson injured for most of 2019-20, Paschall could be the only player to represent the Golden State Warriors in the league’s award season.
