The Philadelphia 76ers officially have a Round 1 draft pick thanks to the help of the Oklahoma City Thunder and their surprising success. The top 20 protected pick owed to Philadelphia landed at 21 which means the pick conveys and the Sixers now turn their attention to the draft.
There are a few routes the Sixers can go down during this draft, but the most popular–and hugely needed–route would be the shooting and spacing need for Philadelphia. It was clear that their plan to go big did not work out and the Sixers now need to find shooting.
In a mock draft done by the folks over at HoopsHype, the most popular option for the Sixers is Stanford shooter Tyrell Terry.
The Philadelphia 76ers have a glaring weakness, lacking enough shooters to space the floor in a way that is necessary for the modern NBA. Perhaps the best young shooting prospect in this class is Tyrell Terry, a brilliant 19-year-old who shot 40.8 percent from beyond the arc during his freshman year. His basketball intelligence is through the roof as he had the highest “good possession rate” of all guards in this class. He also “broke a record” for BBIQ measured by several NBA teams.
The Sixers could not throw a rock in the ocean against the Boston Celtics as they were swept out of the playoffs. A kid like Terry can come in and provide an instant impact and give Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Al Horford some space to breathe and operate on offense. [lawrence-related id=37308,37297,37300]
