Question marks can be found at every corner across the college football landscape right now as three Power Five conferences–the SEC, ACC and Big 12–prepare to play football this fall.
Even in Big Ten and Pac-12 country there is much uncertainty about whether their potential spring season will be possible.
Well, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby spoke with 247Sports’ Chip Brown this weekend and expressed his belief that if there is no Big 12 football this fall “it’s likely” there will not be any sports played for the entire 2020-2021 academic year “based on what [he’s] heard from campuses.”

If you ask me, this is one of the quotes that has made the most sense since the Big Ten and Pac 12 postponed their fall season, as it seems the same problems that forced the postponement will still be present come December/January. It’s a backup plan for the fall season, yes. But it doesn’t seem like much will be different when the time to start the season comes around again.
We can still hope, at least, that the Big Ten will find a way to play football later this year. But if the three remaining Power Five conferences are to postpone their fall season it doesn’t seem likely that any college sports will be played until the 2021-2022 academic year.
