Josh Allen on Stefon Diggs: ‘He works his ass off’

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on wide receiver Stefon Diggs during 2020 training camp.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen has expressed his excitement in having wide receiver Stefon Diggs join the team already during training camp. Plenty of players have. Diggs himself has also explained why he’s pumped to be in Buffalo too, previously mentioning Allen’s drive and the defense’s prowess playing a part there.

On Wednesday, Allen did so once again, just like he’ll probably continue to do as camp winds on. But this time while chatting with WGR-550 radio, he was so caught up in the moment, Allen candidly spoke on Diggs.

If some might consider Diggs your classic star wide receiver who’s potentially a diva, Allen said the polar opposite is the case for him. The QB didn’t overlook the wideout’s work ethic in the slightest, saying his new No. 1 receiver works his… tail off.

“He works his ass off,” Allen said. “I mean he’s… running route as hard as he can during practice, he’s talking, he’s communicating, he’s got a good relationship with Smoke (John Brown), and Beas (Cole Beasley). I think it’s a group that’s going to continue to grow together. Adding him, it’s only going to give Cole and John more opportunities to get them the ball.

“I’d definitely say that Stefon, he’s special. He’s got crazy talent. He loves being in Buffalo, he loves the guys here and personally I love having him here, I’m really excited to be on the field with him.”

Diggs’ mindset and drive is certainly something that, on paper, should fit in with the Bills despite some potential concerns over his acquisition earlier this offseason. That’s not anything related to Buffalo, but Diggs appeared unhappy with his former team, the Vikings, prior to being traded to the Bills. He took to social media to claim he was ready for a fresh start only hours prior to being traded.

But the past is the past, and Allen and the rest of the Bills players will certainly appreciate Diggs and his supreme efforts. A teammate mentioned by Allen in Beasley also spoke on his new teammate this week,. Beasley said Diggs has got a little “juice” and “twitch” to him so far in practice.

All signs pointing to the positives for Diggs in Orchard Park so far.
