Footwork and awareness were two of Van Jefferson’s strengths coming out of Florida, and he put both on display in practice Monday. In a team session during red zone work, Jefferson went up and grabbed a pass to the corner of the end zone from John Wolford.
He came down right near the pylon, tapping both feet in bounds for six. It was a great throw by Wolford, but an even better catch from the rookie Jefferson.
The touchdown came with Adonis Alexander in coverage against Jefferson.

Jefferson is currently fourth on the depth chart, but he’ll have a chance to overtake Josh Reynolds for the third-most snaps at wide receiver this season if he develops quickly.
As a third-round pick, expectations are tempered for Jefferson, but Cooper Kupp is an example of a player who can contribute right away despite being picked on Day 2 of the draft.
