DETROIT — Christin Stewart has had his share of offensive struggles out of the gate for the Detroit Tigers this season.
The former University of Tennessee baseball player and left fielder for the Tigers has sputtered so mightily at the plate that he is no longer an everyday player.
But Stewart played Saturday night in Detroit’s 3-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He went 1-for-3 in the game at Comerica Park. With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 9-9 on the season.
Stewart is now batting .200 in 2020. He has one home run and three RBIs. He also has two doubles this year.
The former Vol was a first-round pick by Detroit, going No. 34 in 2015.
