With the New England Patriots about to enter a bit of a quarterback battle between Jarrett Stidham and Cam Newton, experts around the country have been weighing in. However, Willie McGinest is confident as to who he thinks the Patriots will trot out under center in Week One.
Stidham appeared to be the favorite early on in the year. However, the signing of Cam Newton changed all that. Now, Newton is trying to prove that he can still be a top-notch quarterback. McGinest thinks that the veteran will be under center when the team faces the Dolphins in Week One.
“Well, they say it’s a competition, but if you are asking my opinion, I expect to see Cam Newton start at the quarterback position,” McGinest said on WEEI’s “Dale & Keefe,” as transcribed by Boston.com. “If he’s healthy he’s the guy.”
As training camp begins, it will be interesting to follow this quarterback battle. One thing is for certain: The Patriots are entering uncharted territory in more ways than one.
