Following a statement made by the Buffalo Bills and the quarterback himself, Jake Fromm has fallen off the grid.
Those neatly written up comments came as the organization decided to stand by the QB following some racially-charged texts messages from his past surfaced earlier this offseason. In them, Fromm used the phrase “elite white people.”
For the first time since those statements, Fromm finally made public comment on his previous message to a group of western New York media outlets, including the Buffalo News. While chatting, Fromm said those comments were not representative of who he is.
“That’s not me, that’s not who I am,” Fromm said. “That’s not where my heart is. The one thing I want to do here on this Earth is love God and love people. I fell short of that. Here, I want to make amends and really be better from here on out. Hopefully I can earn (teammates’) trust and really bring something to this football team.”
In addition, Fromm added that the incident “opened his eyes” to see the world from a “different perspective.” But Fromm came short of providing details on exactly what he’s done in order to change, only saying he’s had talks with other individuals.
“I’ve had those difficult conversations. I’ve talked to some really amazing people and got a different perspective and seen the world through a different lens. I really think I’m better from it and I’m going to continue to keep educating myself, having those conversations, and hopefully we can make the world a better place,” Fromm said.
