The newest Buffalo Bills player joins the most well-known one on the top-100 players list in the NFL.
Diggs clocked in at No. 54 overall on the rankings of players on Monday, as voted on by players in the league. On Sunday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was the first Bills player introduced at No. 87.
While still with his former team at the time, the Vikings, Diggs did have a career-best season in some aspects in 2019. He had a career-high 1,130 receiving yards from 63 catches. However, perhaps due to some of his off-field issues with his former team, Diggs was highly underutilized by the Vikings a year ago.
In 2018, Diggs had his first 1,000-plus yard season in the NFL. That year had had 1,021 yards, but on a whopping 102 catches. That season saw Diggs targeted 149 times, but the number dropped to 94 targets a year ago despite playing in the same amount of games (15). His touchdown totals also dropped from nine to six.
Because of his departure from his former team, Diggs will certainly be motivated with the Bills in 2020.
But Diggs has some extra motivation, too. This yearly list of the NFL’s top-100 is often scrutinized. However, in Diggs’ case, it does show how he’s respected across the league to be voted as one of the best wide receivers, and overall players, in the game. Still, Diggs has yet to receiver Pro Bowl or All-Pro recognition, something he’ll want to earn with his new team.
