Former Alabama star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was already a household name across the country for what he did in college, but after being drafted by the Miami Dolphins at No. 5 in the 2020 NFL draft, he has already become a South Florida sports icon without taking a snap.
Tagovailoa is now one of many stars that claim Miami as their home, and he has already been in contact with one of the biggest, rapper Rick Ross.
Ross joined NFL Network’s ‘Good Morning Football’ to talk about Miami sports. The interview was not complete without mentioning the 2018 Heisman-finalist, Tagovailoa.
“[Tua and I] actually just spoke through social media, we spoke through social media a couple times,” says Ross. “We spoke of us getting together, you know, once this Covid, the fungus, clear up, we are going to get to kick it. But, you know, growing up in Miami… Miami is a quarterback city, and since Dan Marino left we’ve been really going through it. So, once we got to draft Tua, you know what I mean, I went crazy, I went running around the estate, ‘yea baby!'”
The Grammy award-winning rapper also mentions Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots and the AFC East to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but says Miami is ready for Tagovailoa and the selection was “breathtaking.”
