The New York Giants were initially expected to welcome their incoming rookies to East Rutherford, New Jersey on Tuesday, July 21 but ultimately changed the reporting date to Thursday, July 23.
However, with the NFL and NFLPA still not in complete agreement on how to handle the 2020 season, the Giants informed their first travel group to remain in place until further notice, potentially pushing back their arrival yet again.
Each team approaching camp differently while awaiting guidance from the NFL:
– Some, including #Jaguars, have rookies reporting today to start COVID-19 screening
– Others have set later reporting dates
– #Giants told first reporting group travel is on hold pending deal with NFLPA— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) July 21, 2020
While the Giants did not officially postponed the arrival of their rookies for training camp, it’s possible that travel does get delayed if the NFL and NFLPA can not come to a complete agreement by the 23rd.
If that does indeed become the case, the Giants will hold off on rookie arrivals until such an agreement is reached. Should that happen in the next 24 hours, they will welcome their 2020 draft class and undrafted rookie free agents into team facilities on Thursday for COVID testing, physicals and contract signings.
