After a strong 2019, a new challenge in 2020.
The next player on our list of Mountain West football’s best players might have been last year’s best exemplar of the impact a junior college transfer can have in the conference.
After arriving in Logan from Fullerton Community College in Southern California, Troy Lefeged Jr. was one of Utah State’s most consistent performers in his first year as an Aggie, earning recognition from the team as its defensive MVP by leading with 104 total tackles, the fifth-most in the Mountain West, and proving he could do a little of everything else: Two sacks, three forced fumbles, four passes defended, and six tackles for loss are proof of that.
Lefeged Jr. is slated to be tasked with a new role in 2020, flanking Kevin Meitzenheimer and Eric Munoz in a reshaped defense front as a linebacker. It seems doubtful, though, that he’ll fly under the radar again.
