Greenville WR/DB Caleb Johnson commits to OU Sooners

Oklahoma has landed another recruit in their 2021 class. Caleb Johnson is a three-star athlete out of Greenville, Texas, and has decided to join Lincoln Riley’s squad. Johnson is expected to play defensive back.

The 6-0, 180-pounder made his decision to play for the Sooners after being recruited by more than 20 NCAA Division I football programs including Louisiana State University, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Texas A&M, Texas Christian Houston and others.

“They have a great education program and a great athletic program as well,” said Johnson.

Johnson, who earned all-district honors last season for the 6-5 Lions as a wide receiver, said “right now they’re recruiting me at defensive back.”

Big 12 delays 2020 football media days

Due to the coronavirus, the Big 12 media days will not be held at AT&T Stadium. There were plans in place to do it virtually, but those have been pushed back as well. They will now take place on Aug. 3.

Big 12 fans will have to wait a little longer to hear from head coaches and players around the conference before the start of the 2020 season. On Wednesday, the conference announced that it had delayed its virtual media days until August.

The conference’s media days were originally scheduled to begin on July 20, but the event will now occur on Aug. 3. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be conducted in a fully virtual format. In the press release from the Big 12, conference commissioner Bob Bowlsby explained why media days were pushed back.

“As everyone is aware, our head coaches and student-athletes have not been able to collectively engage in organized team functions since athletics activities were suspended in March. We felt it was prudent to give coaches a chance to re-acclimate with their teams prior to participating in our annual season preview event,” said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.
