Browns VP of Player Personnel Glenn Cook wants Myles Garrett in Cleveland ‘for as long as we can’

If it was up to Browns Vice President of Player Personnel Glenn Cook, defensive end Myles Garrett would never leave Cleveland. It’s not Cook’s decision, of course, but it’s a nice indication from a person within the Browns front office that getting a contract extension done with Garrett is a hot priority.

Cook, who was promoted to the VPP job from the scouting department earlier this offseason, was careful to not overplay his hand while still strongly indicating that the team fully intends to keep Garrett as long as possible.

After noting the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it makes every future uncertain, Cook had this to say about extending Garrett during a Zoom teleconference with reporters this week,

“Myles is a really good player. Personally, I would love to have him for as long as we can. Those are decisions that Andrew, (GM Berry), (Vice President of Football Operations) Kwesi (Adofo-Mensah) and ownership have to make. I can’t give you an update. I think Andrew will be the better person to speak on that, but I can tell you, as you probably know, we are really excited to have him on our team and hopefully, have him for a long time.”
