Lions Wire: Detroit’s lack of pass rush, miscues reading play action were biggest issues in Vikings Week 7 win

The Vikings Week 7 game against the Lions was a rough one for Detroit. Let’s take a look back.

The Vikings’ Week 7 victory against the Lions brought Minnesota to a 5-2 record. The Vikings went on to finish 10-6 in the regular season.

They then beat the Saints in the playoffs before getting knocked out by the 49ers in the next round.

The Lions moved to 2-3-1, and it only got worse from there. Detroit won just one game the rest of the season to finish 3-12-1 overall.

Our friends at Lions Wire looked back at the first of two defeats the Vikings dealt to the Lions. In Week 7, Minnesota faced adversity before pulling away 42-30.

Lions Wire thought the biggest issue for Detroit in the loss was the lack of pass rush threat and the defense’s inability to read play-action.

Here’s some of what the outlet said about the Minnesota victory:

“I give Minnesota’s coaching staff a lot of credit for this one, too. Mike Zimmer, Kevin Stefanski & Co. scored a clear victory over Matt Patricia, Darrell Bevell and their Lions counterparts.”
