The 2020 season still is months away, but we can look at projections for the future. Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling, using updated Super Bowl odds, projected the order of the first round of the 2021 draft.
What does that mean for the Arizona Cardinals?
Based on these odds, the Cardinals would hold the 12th overall pick, four spots behind where they selected in this year’s draft.
They are preceded by the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos and followed by the Miami Dolphins, who hold the Houston Texans’ draft pick, and the Chicago Bears.
The Raiders had the 12th pick in this past draft, going 7-9 in 2019.
Based on what the Cardinals are expected to do this coming season, seven wins is within the realm of expectations. They are expected to be better but not necessarily a playoff team.
Picking 12th wouldn’t be great for Cardinals fans, but it would still be considered progress, especially if some of those nine wins are close games.
