There’s social unrest in the United States following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Because of this, a women says he felt it was right to reveal a racially-charged text message from Bills rookie quarterback Jake Fromm this week.
Fromm apologized for it, but folks have weighed in on it. Among them is one former Bills player, defensive end Shaq Lawson. Now with the Dolphins, Lawson said he Fromm “couldn’t be a teammate” of his in a message on his social media account on Twitter.
But that also brought about another comment from Lawson on the Bills’ starting quarterback, Josh Allen. Just hours before being drafted by the Bills in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, racially-charged tweets from Allen surfaced. In both Allen and Fromm’s case, they were instants from years prior. Allen later said some were rap lyrics while others were a joke from a sitcom, “Modern Family,” but added he still regretted it.
After posting he wouldn’t accept Fromm as a teammate, Lawson responded to someone who brought up Allen’s prior to tweets. That brought another candid response from the former Bill. Lawson said he had to “check” Allen at first:
Lawson evidently looked past Allen after some time because he hadn’t brought up those tweets in the two seasons they were teammates. With Fromm, it appears Lawson is more offended based on his hard stance.
Of course, Lawson will have two games per season to face Allen, Fromm, and the Bills after he signed with the Dolphins this offseason. Lawson was the final remaining draft pick of the Bills’ previous front office led by general manager Doug Whaley remaining on the team’s roster.
