Former Longhorn: Texas would’ve beaten Alabama with healthy Colt McCoy

Former Texas LB Sam Acho shared  that Texas would have defeated Alabama in the 2010 National Championship if Colt McCoy didn’t get hurt.

11 years later, and this is still a topic of conversation for Texas Longhorn fans apparently. Former Texas linebacker Sam Acho shared with 247Sports that Texas would have defeated the Crimson Tide in the 2010 National Championship if quarterback Colt McCoy didn’t get hurt.

Well, Alabama would’ve won the national title this had Tua Tagovailoa not of gotten hurt. Just saying. But still, check out with Acho says here:

Alabama went on to beat Texas 37-21 to win their first national title since 1992.

When asked if Texas would’ve won had McCoy not gotten hurt, Acho responded with:

“Is that a question?… I don’t even know we’re discussing. That’s not even a question.”

Acho goes on to say that:

“It was hard having Colt go down, but at the same time, that’s what adversity makes you do — it makes you try to rally together, and we did. We had a lull but came back in the third quarter and rallied behind Garrett Gilbert. Jordan Shipley had an amazing catch for a touchdown in that third quarter and brought it back to a closer game, and we didn’t get it done.”

But injuries are part of the game, and Alabama has certainly had their share of them. Including this past season when their star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and many others on both sides of the ball struggled all season with injuries.

Would Alabama have beaten Texas in the 2010 National Title game if McCoy had been healthy? We will never know, but one thing is for sure, Texas will never stop asking the question.
