The New York Giants don’t have many executives, coaches or players making many “top” lists these days, which is a product of substantial turnover from the top to the bottom, and a general lack of talent.
That’s not to say the 2020 Giants lack talent, mind you. Rather, it’s just the reality of how bad this team has been for a prolonged period of time. And although they appear headed in the right direction, it’s going to be some time before they begin to receive notoriety.
For that reason, it should come as little surprise that just one member of the Giants made Pete Prisco’s recent list of the Top 100 Players of 2020.
What will be even less surprising to you is which player got the nod…
35. Saquon Barkley
New York Giants, RBHe was limited to 13 games last season because of injuries, which hurt his numbers. He still rushed for 1,003 yards and caught 52 passes. With an improved line in front of him, his numbers will go up this season.
What may or may not add salt to that wound is that Prisco didn’t even have a second Giants in his “just missed” section. And only one former member of the Giants — wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (No. 64) — made the list.
That is not exactly a great look for former general manager Jerry Reese or current general manager Dave Gettleman.
