Bleacher Report released an interesting updated projection for the Buffalo Bills this weekend.
Prior to the 2020 NFL schedule release, B/R predicted the Bills to win 11 games. Now that the order of games became official last week with the NFL’s schedule release, the outlet changed its mind.
B/R now projects 10 wins for the Bills:
The Buffalo Bills enter the 2020 season as something they haven’t been since the “K-Gun” days of Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed in the 1990s: the favorites to win the AFC East.
But to be the best, you have to beat the best. And after losing both meetings against the New England Patriots in 2019, the pressure will be on the Bills when they first meet the Pats in Buffalo in Week 8.
That pressure is going to stay on Buffalo for much of the season. The Bills have the easiest schedule in the division, but with two games against the Pats, home tilts with Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks and trips to San Francisco and Tennessee all on the slate, the Bills are tied for the league’s fifth-hardest schedule in 2020.
Prediction: 10-6
Bills Mafia would love to know what changed here, too bad we don’t have the specifics. Still, at 10-6, the Bills will certainly have a look at the playoffs and AFC East title. And in fact, that’s exactly what happens still.
Despite dropping the Bills by one win, B/R still pegs Buffalo as the only AFC East team to have a winning record next season. Translation: First AFC East title since 1995.
Also, spin zone: Perhaps B/R looked at the Bills schedule and thought that Week 17 against the Dolphins will be backups with the playoffs already locked up for the Bills? We’ll allow that one.
