LSU quarterback Joe Burrow tore through college defenses in 2019, delivering an accurate ball to Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, the latter of whom is now on the Vikings.
Burrow did hit a bump in the road, however, en route to a Heisman Trophy and National Championship. That bump was Cameron Dantzler, then a Mississippi State cornerback and now a Vikings rookie.
Pro Football Focus reported that Burrow garnered a 95.2 out of 100 in his final collegiate season. He had 5,341 yards, 56 touchdowns and a passer rating of 143.2.
Against Dantzler, it was a different story. Burrow had a grade of just 70.8. He had 13 yards, 0 touchdowns and a passer rating of 57.3. That bodes well for the Vikings draftee, on account of Burrow’s college success and him going No. 1 overall.
Dantzler has the potential to play out wide and be a consistent starter due to his height, but putting on weight has to be a priority for him this offseason. He is listed at 6-2, 188 pounds.
