Seahawks could still pursue Jadeveon Clowney if opportunity presents

Despite selecting two defensive ends in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks haven’t ruled out continuing to pursue Jadeveon Clowney.

The Seahawks made it clear they were no longer going to wait around for free agent Jadveon Clowney to make his decision regarding re-signing with the team when Seattle selected two defensive ends in the 2020 NFL Draft.

However, Coach Pete Carroll and John Schneider conceded they weren’t ruling out pursuing Clowney in the future should the opportunity present itself.

“Just staying in touch with him, he’s kind of patient with the time frames that are out there and all that,” Carroll said after the draft. “But he knows that the Seahawks are a place that he had some success and that he had a really good time and he contributed to our club and all of that. That’s a pretty good feeling for him being out there still. John will take care of it. If there’s an opportunity that makes sense, we’ll dive back in and pursue it.”

The Seahawks added Darrell Taylor out of Tennessee in the second round of the draft and Syracuse’s Alton Robinson in the fifth. Seattle had signed Benson Mayowa and Bruce Irvin back to the squad during free agency.

So for now, until Clowney makes his decision official, Seattle will move on without him but Carroll and Schneider will be keeping their options open.
