Cowboys select CB Trevon Diggs in 2nd round of NFL Draft

Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday evening.

Diggs (6-1, 205 pounds) has been compared to Aqib Talib by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein. Talib, who won a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2015, earned five Pro Bowl nods during his time in the NFL.

He’s a future starting press-man corner with the hands and ball tracking to take it away and should benefit from more help over the top as a pro,” Zierlein wrote of Diggs on NFL.com before the draft. “Future consideration at free safety is possible considering his size and skill set.”

During his four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Diggs totaled 68 tackles, four interceptions, 17 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He recorded three interceptions as a senior in 2019 and returned one of them for a touchdown.

Diggs, the younger brother of Stefon, was the fifth-best cornerback in this year’s class, according to Luke Easterling’s rankings for Draft Wire.
