With each day that stuck-at-home orders continue – and hair salons and barbershops remain closed – our mops get a little more unruly. As it turns out, some professional athletes are in the same boat, namely Brooks Koepka.
It’s just that his resulting home-haircut fail was on display for thousands to see.
Koepka’s girlfriend Jena Sims posted a sort of play-by-play of the event on her Instagram story on Thursday, beginning with this line: “We’ve officially gotten to that point in the quarantine where the guy turns to the girls and says, ‘I need a haircut and you’re going to do it for me.’”
Sims lists off her preparation for the cut, which included three YouTube tutorials, talking to Koepka’s barber and inspecting all the clipper accoutrements. The haircut itself was captured in a timelapse, but viewers can get a sense of the amount of time it took, with Koepka checking in often in the mirror.
“It did not go well,” Sims proclaims at the end as both laugh.
A series of pictures follow showing something resembling a bowl cut.

If the golf schedule were going according to plan, Koepka might have had to sport the style in his PGA Championships title defense, which was originally scheduled for May 14-17 but has since been pushed to Aug. 6-9.
Then again, if all were going to plan, Koepka (like the rest of us) probably wouldn’t be resorting to home haircuts.
