The 49ers added to their already dominant defensive front with their first pick in the 2020 NFL draft. They scooped up South Carolina’s massive defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.
Kinlaw’s numbers don’t jump of the screen. He had 17 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks in 29 games, but the traits are are what the 49ers are banking on. Kinlaw was dominant despite the low traditional stats. Pro Football Focus had him graded as the best pass rusher from the last two seasons in this year’s draft.
While the numbers aren’t super impressive – the film certainly is.
