The No. 1 player in the state of Michigan according to 247sports, Douglass Academy’s Pierre Brooks, has committed to Michigan State Basketball. The Detroit native is a 4-star shooting guard prospect and a huge get for Tom Izzo’s program. Brooks is the first commit of the Spartans 2021 recruiting class.
MSU was able to land Brooks’ commitment over Michigan, who had also heavily recruited the local high school star. Brooks is the No. 83 ranked player in the country according to 247sports and the No. 18 ranked shooting guard. Assistant Coach Dwayne Stephens was given credit for the recruitment of Brooks.
Here is his official announcement, posted on his Twitter and Instagram accounts:

Brooks is a 6-foot-5, 180 pound guard and was also recruited by Xavier, Butler, Arizona State, and Illinois, among others. Brooks is listed as a shooting guard on 247sports but has himself labeled as a combo guard on his Twitter. Brooks is the third straight 4-star commitment for Izzo, who also landed 4-stars Mady Sissoko and AJ Hoggard for the Spartans 2020 class.
