Report: Giants ‘spent a lot of time researching’ QB Justin Herbert

The Giants are reportedly doing their homework on Justin Herbert.

The New York Giants are doing their homework on a slew of positions ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft, and apparently that includes quarterback.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Giants have “spent a lot of time researching” quarterback Justin Herbert, which includes FaceTime meetings with head coach, Joe Judge.

By all accounts, Herbert is expected to be the third quarterback off the board in this year’s draft, behind likely No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa.

There are some who even believe that Herbert could go before Tagovailoa, but that remains to be seen.

Could general manager Dave Gettleman and the Giants really be interested in taking a quarterback that early with Daniel Jones already in place as the team’s starter for 2020?

Not likely.

This has smokescreen written all over it, as Gettleman and the Giants are almost certainly trying to entice other teams to trade up for Big Blue’s No. 4 overall pick in order to obtain more assets.
