Outside of wide receiver, the Raiders have no bigger need on their roster than at cornerback. Trayvon Mullen will return as a starter in 2020, but outside of that, the Raiders need to dramatically upgrade their cornerback room.
One player that could be on the Raiders’ radar is Lousiana Tech playmaker Amik Robertson. While he is short in stature, there may not be a more aggressive defender in the draft. In his three seasons in college, Robertson racked up 14 interceptions and 34 pass deflections.
According to Justin Melo of the Draft Wire, the Raiders have met with Robertson ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. Robertson is currently projected to be a Day 3 pick, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he snuck into the third round given his production.
Robertson is probably a slot-only cornerback in the NFL, but some believe he may make a better safety prospect given his tackling ability. Either way, Robertson is an intriguing name to monitor as the Raiders have three picks in the third round of the draft.
