Aaron Donald, Todd Gurley make top 50 merchandise sales list

The Rams weren’t well-represented on the NFLPA’s top 50 merchandise sales list.

Jared Goff is clearly the Rams’ franchise quarterback, but he has yet to catch on as one of the most popular players in the NFL. He finished outside the top 50 players in merchandise sales for the last year, which spanned from March 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020.

Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley were the only Rams to make the list, coming in at No. 50 and 29, respectively. Gurley, of course, was cut by the Rams this offseason and signed with the Falcons, but his merchandise sales during this time period were while he was a member of the Rams.

Here’s how the top 10 rounded out.

  1. QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
  2. QB Tom Brady, Patriots
  3. QB Lamar Jackson, Ravens
  4. RB Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys
  5. QB Baker Mayfield, Browns
  6. QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers
  7. WR Odell Beckham Jr., Browns
  8. OLB Khalil Mack, Bears
  9. QB Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers
  10. TE George Kittle, 49ers

It’s surprising that Goff couldn’t crack the top 50, especially considering how secure he is as the Rams’ quarterback. There’s no chance the team is going to move on from him in the next few years, making him a safe jersey to buy.

The problem for all Rams players in terms of merchandise sales, however, is that the team is getting new uniforms this year. Many fans have said they’re waiting for the new uniforms to be released before they buy a jersey, and that’s been the case for the last year.

Rams players should rank much higher on this list in the next calendar year after the uniforms are revealed – assuming the jerseys aren’t a hideous flop like the logo.
