Recruiting never stops in the college football world, and that certainly holds true for Nick Saban and the University of Alabama. If a team wants a player, it’s almost certain that there’s going to be a fight for him.
The good news is the Crimson Tide’s head coach is one of the best in the business, and his staff in Tuscaloosa continues to put the program in a great position with several of the nation’s top recruits.
Most recently, it’s 2021 four-star strong-side defensive end Monkell Goodwine, who released his top five schools on Thursday via his Twitter account:

It might surprise some to see Maryland make Goodwine’s final five in addition to Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Penn State, but it shouldn’t.
Former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley is an excellent recruiting and is really starting to build something, and to help his case with this particular recruit, Goodwine plays for National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland.
It’s hard to say which of these schools is the current favorite to land the 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end’s services, but the Crimson Tide look to be in great shape with defensive coordinator Pete Golding and running backs coach Charles Huff as his main two recruiters.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Goodwine is rated as the nation’s No. 114 overall player, No. 9 strong-side defensive end and No. 5 player from the state of Maryland.
As far as 247Sports’ own rankings, he is the No. 201 overall player, No. 10 strong-side defensive end and No. 8 player from his home state.
