The NFL Draft that is now less than two weeks away promises to be memorable. Hopefully sooner than later we’ll return to normal and have real games to break down and discuss but in the meantime this will be memorable for all of the oddities we are going to see.
Virtual war rooms, no draft picks hugging Roger Goodell and no crowds whatsoever. Now add another oddity to it all as 58 prospects including three former Notre Dame players are set to participate virtually in the draft.
Nationally Joe Burrow, Chase Young, Tua Tagovailova are among the several stars set to participate. The three Notre Dame players set to participate are Chase Claypool, Cole Kmet and Julian Okwara.
From the story it appears we’ll be waiting a bit until we know what exactly participating in such an event will entail:
Details on how the prospects will participate in the draft are expected to be revealed at a later date.
My guess is that it’s a way to make sure those who carry the draft on TV and radio get interviews from the top players confirmed. Although it would be hilarious if all 58 had to sit in a virtual Zoom conference room and weren’t allowed to leave it until they were selected.
